The Northern Beaches area of Sydney has quite a lot to offer other than beaches and this run has been planned to include some interesting places which members may not have seen on their previous visits to the area.
We will meet at 10 am at the Piemonte Café Restaurant situated within the Hills Marketplace, 287 Mona Vale Road, Terrey Hills (just past the life size white horse mounted on the top of a tall pole situated on the same side of the road as the Piemonte Café Restaurant).
After morning tea at Piemonte Café Restaurant we will travel a short distance east along Mona Vale Road to inspect the Bahai Temple, the only one in Australia and one of only eight in the world.
After inspecting the Bahai Temple we will travel along some roads which are more akin to country roads far from Sydney yet being only about twenty kilometres from the Sydney CBD.
In due course after taking in some views of Narrabeen Lakes and the coastline, we will arrive for lunch at the War Veterans Village on Collaroy Plateau which provides panoramic views as well as a number of unique and interesting items not normally encountered in a restaurant. The prices at the War Veterans restaurant are extremely reasonable.
Following lunch and after inspecting the interesting items on display at the War Veterans Village, we will travel to take in the views from North Head travelling via the beaches from Collaroy to Manly.
After seeing the view from North Head it will be about time for afternoon tea and as it happens there is a nice café on North Head named Bella Vista Café from which there is a view down Sydney Harbour with the city skyline in the far distance.
In planning the run I have tried to avoid busy roads and congested intersections with the aim of making the run as enjoyable and stress free as possible. Also, I have planned the run in a way that parking should not be a problem.
