We hope you will join us for a wonderful weekend in the magnificent Blue Mountains. Our weekend will centre around the concert when Phoenix Choir Blue Mountains present two of Bach’s most beloved cantatas, featuring the talented soprano and baritone soloists Julie Paik and Lewis Barber. The choir will perform the haunting and reflective Easter cantata Christ lay in death’s dark prison, alongside the exuberant Sleepers wake, in a new arrangement featuring oboe, violin and organ. The concert will be held in St Hilda’s Anglican Church, Katoomba on Saturday 6 April at 4pm.
We plan to meet at Mountain Blue café - 5 Wascoe Street, Glenbook (just past tourist office, same side of road) for coffee 10:30am for departure at 11:30am. Our next stop is Basil Nut Cafe & Restaurant, Shop 5, 147 - 153 Katoomba St, Katoomba at 12:30pm if anyone would like to join us there. Following lunch, there will be time to book into our accommodation for those staying overnight to freshen up prior to the concert. There is an abundance of accommodation options available in and around Katoomba at very reasonable cost.
After the concert, we will get together again for dinner (restaurant tbc) and chat. Some people may choose to head home following the concert, but for those staying overnight, we will have a run together on Sunday morning.
Tickets for the concert will be available for purchase at the door on the day or will be available online by contacting Phoenixchoir.org.au
